10x Rewards: Conquering Women and Taming Beauties - Chapter 72: Receiving The Reward
Chapter 72: Receiving The Reward
The moment I stepped into the room, the temperature plummeted.
Unlike the cold I felt when my mother entered my room, this time the sensation was soaked in bloodshed, almost as though I had stepped onto a deathly, terrifying battlefield.
I gasped and subconsciously spread out my aura, the pressure of a cursed master surging toward every corner of this devastating space.
However, it was like throwing a stone into an ocean. A slight ripple echoed, then… nothing.
I glanced up in shock and noticed that my father still had his back to me. I couldn’t see his expression.
Was he trying to kill me?
There was no time to think as the deadly pressure began wrapping around me.
Simultaneously, he continued speaking:
“Naturally, humans, although able to harness the power of cursed energy, are innately not attuned to it. As such… it’s simply impossible for one to progress with such swiftness on the path of absorbing cursed energy…”
“Except, of course, that person is a cursed monster…” he finished, finally turning toward me, his eyes glinting faintly.
“Aristarkh…” he said lightly, noticing the pale look on my face, as though all color had been drained from it.
Just as he continued increasing the pressure and it felt like I would collapse, I stopped hiding it.
Suddenly… another ripple spread outward, and a domain appeared.
Instantly, the patriarch’s pupils constricted sharply, as though he had encountered something horrifying.
He retreated at once, instinctively retrieving his cursed artifact, a sharp blade with jagged teeth akin to that of a beast.
With terrifying ferocity, he swung it in my direction.
Thankfully, he realized in time that he wasn’t facing a cursed monster, but his own son, and halted the attack halfway.
I broke into a cold sweat, feeling the dreadful sword hovering just inches from my head.
If he had been even a moment slower, he would have cleanly cut me in half.
Feeling the oppressive aura radiating from my father’s body, I could tell he wasn’t a cursed master or even a cursed expert, the rank above it.
He was something more terrifying.
Something more unfathomable.
Holding his attack midair, he stared into my eyes and noticed my blood-red pupils.
“A unique pair of eyes?” father muttered subconsciously in shock.
He studied them for a moment, then glanced around at the domain I had conjured using Hades’ eyes.
“You already have a domain?” there was a faint trace of jealousy in his tone.
Pretending not to notice, I nodded evenly. “It came with the awakening of my eyes,” I lied smoothly.
He glanced around once more before nodding, a smile slowly forming on his face.
Still, I didn’t call off the domain just yet. Instead, I asked evenly, “You’re not going to try to kill me, are you?”
Father shook his head with a laugh. “That was merely me testing you, to see if you’d been possessed by a cursed monster or something.”
Exhaling in relief, my eyes finally returned to their silvery hue, and the domain rapidly receded.
The battlefield-like pressure threatened to warp around me once more, however, with a wave of my father’s hand, it dispersed.
He rubbed his chin, seemingly deep in thought.
“What reward do you want? For now, I can’t seem to think of anything you’d need. Helping you with heavenly cursed treasures and artifacts would only hinder your growth…”
“How about a weapon like yours?” I said, a glint flashing in my eyes.
I could tell the dreadful sword from before was like a slumbering beast. It felt alive, as though it had a will of its own.
“Ha… haha.” Father laughed, his expression filled with mirth as he shook his head.
As though remembering he was the patriarch, he composed himself and said evenly, “Those kinds of artifacts… you don’t choose them. They choose you.”
His words stirred a faint sense of regret within me.
Just as I was about to speak, he continued.
“However… there’s a chance for you to obtain one.”
“A chance?” I asked, raising a brow.
“Have you heard of the cursed battlefield?”
I shook my head, watching him closely. It was obvious the place was important.
“In a month’s time, there will be a competition between all the geniuses of the VERA Kingdom. The winner will gain a chance to enter the cursed battlefield.
“It is said that within it lies a slumbering artifact, a sword that has existed since the era of cursed monsters. The truth is uncertain, but from what I’ve heard, it was once wielded by the first ever cursed warrior.”
A touch of melancholy appeared on his face as he spoke, though he still smiled.
I stared at him, a bright light flickering in my eyes.
If I could obtain that treasure…
I fell into silent thought, my heart beginning to race with excitement.
“However, it won’t be easy to win. All sorts of geniuses from across the kingdom will emerge, including hidden ones,” Father added, shaking his head.
After a moment, I asked, “What about my sister? Where does she rank among them?”
He laughed and shook his head. “She isn’t even qualified to be in the top twenty.”
“She isn’t even in the top twenty?” I muttered in shock.
From what I had seen, my sister had long since reached the level of a cursed expert. Combined with her unique cursed ability and mastery of the Targaryen clan’s techniques, she still couldn’t rank among the top twenty?
“Then what kind of monsters hold the top spots…” I murmured internally, a ripple of shock spreading through my chest.
Father heard me and stroked his beard.
“I can’t say for certain, since I hardly pay attention to the younger generation. However, I do know that the crown princess is among the top three.”
“The crown princess?” the words slipped from my lips subconsciously.
I didn’t know who she was, but… ’crowned?’
From what I knew, only males were allowed to bear that title.
“Yes… if you meet her… don’t use any cursed techniques…” he said, shaking his head.
Though he tried to sound calm, I could sense the faint trace of fear beneath his words.
Don’t use any cursed techniques? My mind filled with confusion.
If one couldn’t use cursed techniques, how could they possibly win a battle?
It made no sense, yet father clearly had no intention of explaining further.
“Have you greeted your mother since you arrived?” he asked.
I shook my head.
“Go and at least greet her. I’ll add your name to the list of participants for the kingdom’s competition. In the meantime, do your best to increase your strength as much as possible,” Father said calmly.
Before I could respond, he simply… vanished.
I glanced around to confirm he was truly gone, then shook my head.
“Mother…” the word slipped from my lips subconsciously.
I had Hades’ eyes, capable of influencing thoughts… even hypnotizing others.
Now was the perfect chance to… conquer her.
A burning ambition rose within my chest as the thought settled in.
’I can… do this…’ I told myself, even as a small part of me hoped everything would go smoothly because what i was about to do, was even more deadly than undertaking an sss-rank mission.
