- Chapter 571 571: 571: Lightning Over Totto Land
The Marine warship cut through the juice filled waters at the edge of Totto Land, its hull reflecting the strange colors of the sea. Not far away, a small chocolate Pirate vessel swayed as it approached, carrying a few figures toward the towering warship.
“Mr. Cero is back, and he brought guests.”
A group of Marines gathered near the stern, watching the chocolate boat draw closer. Their voices were low, filled with curiosity.
“Hehe, Mr. Cero really brought two more women aboard. As expected of the most shameless Admiral…”
A nearby Marine quickly nudged him, irritation flashing across his face.
“Keep your voice down. You are a Marine private, do not gossip about an Admiral.”
Another soldier muttered under his breath.
“I still envy Admiral Cero. Women always seem to like him. But those two figures… they look impressive.”
Two more mysterious women.
Some of the Marines exchanged glances, but none dared to speak openly again.
On deck, Vice Admiral Dore observed calmly as the two veiled women stepped onto the warship.
“Attention!”
At her command, the Marines snapped into formation and shouted in unison.
“Welcome to Admiral Silver Serpent’s warship!”
“E excuse me…”
One of the veiled figures bowed politely, her voice trembling.
The Marines inwardly praised her manners.
As expected of someone invited personally by Admiral Cero.
Behind her veil, Pudding felt her heart race.
She never imagined she would willingly board a Marine Admiral’s ship. Even more absurd, she was being warmly welcomed by Marines, despite being the daughter of one of the Four Emperors.
It felt unreal.
Beside her, Nami peered through her veil with sharp, observant eyes. Her gaze briefly landed on Vice Admiral Dore, taking in the woman’s dignified bearing.
Then she turned back and glared at Shirogai with quiet disdain.
“Shirogai, this shameless man. So this is why he infiltrated the Marines. He even recruited such a beautiful subordinate.”
She folded her arms and snorted softly.
Although she did not fully understand his purpose after the Marineford War, rising to the title of the world’s strongest and then quietly assuming the position of Admiral, as his companion she felt obligated to criticize him first.
World’s strongest. Omnipotent God King. Founder of the Sky Island Alliance and its air forces. A man who guided the tides of the era.
In Nami’s eyes, Shirogai did not resemble any of those grand titles.
Among the Straw Hat Pirates, everyone knew the truth.
He was lazy.
Always smiling, always calm, yet consistently avoiding effort. Even Luffy could not compete with him in that regard. Luffy was reckless, not lazy. Shirogai, however, would never move if an ability could solve the problem for him, and would never act personally if a duplicate could handle it instead.
His constant smile was not warmth.
It was convenience.
A universal expression that required no adjustment.
“Bang.”
Vice Admiral Dore saluted firmly.
“Admiral Cero, Marineford has contacted us. They are questioning why we entered the territory of one of the Four Emperors. They also stated that you appear to have engaged Big Mom in combat without authorization.”
Shirogai blinked, then smiled lightly.
“Oh? Tell them I did it because I felt like it.”
Vice Admiral Dore stared at him in silence.
Then she saluted again.
“Yes.”
You are the Admiral.
Your word is law.
She turned and carried out the order without another complaint.
The Thunder Serpent warship adjusted its course and gradually accelerated away from Totto Land’s waters.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Suddenly, cannon fire erupted from the distance. More than a dozen cannonballs tore through the air toward them, detonating mid flight. Fortunately, the distance was too great, and none struck the warship.
“Enemy attack!”
“Battle stations!”
The Marines instantly shifted into combat readiness.
Inside the captain’s cabin, Nami looked out the window with interest.
“Oh? Pirates are bold enough to attack an Admiral’s ship? Shirogai, your authority does not seem very intimidating.”
Shirogai smiled calmly.
“Never underestimate the intelligence of pirates.”
He paused slightly.
“And never underestimate their foolishness.”
Far across the sea, Charlotte Nusuteredi, the Minister of Transport, stood at the bow of a cake Pirate vessel. His large mustache twitched as he glared toward the distant warship.
“The Marines dare trespass in Mama’s territory. As her son, I cannot tolerate this insult.”
He raised his sword and barked orders.
“Close the distance. I will use them as an offering. Mama’s dignity must not be challenged.”
A subordinate suddenly called out in alarm while peering through binoculars.
“Minister Nusuteredi, that ship bears a silver lightning emblem. That is the warship of the newly appointed Marine Admiral, Silver Serpent.”
“An Admiral?”
Nusuteredi hesitated, frowning.
“I must consult Mama regarding this…”
A cold voice interrupted him.
“Do not embarrass yourself, Nusuteredi. Must you trouble Mama over such a trivial matter?”
Heavy footsteps echoed across the deck.
A towering figure clad in hardened Biscuit armor approached, shield and massive sword in hand.
Charlotte Cracker, one of the Three Sweet Commanders and Minister of Biscuits.
With a bounty of 860 million Berries, and empowered by the Biscuit Biscuit Fruit, he stood confidently at the railing.
“So he is an Admiral. So what? I do not believe he can break my defense.”
Nusuteredi spoke cautiously.
“Brother Cracker, the opponent is still an Admiral…”
Cracker scoffed.
“He is newly appointed. There is no need to exaggerate his strength.”
Boom.
Thunder rolled across the sky.
Crack.
Without warning, hundreds of silver white lightning bolts fell like a storm, striking the fleet of Big Mom Pirate ships.
Screams erupted instantly.
Pirates were caught completely off guard as lightning tore through decks and masts. Bodies ignited. Ships splintered and burned.
“Get inside! Into the cabins!”
Survivors scrambled desperately for shelter.
Lightning continued to rain down mercilessly, shattering hulls and setting sails ablaze. Ships burst apart and began to sink one after another.
Cracker gritted his teeth and clapped his hands together, generating layers of hardened biscuit barriers that rose like protective roofs above the nearest vessels.
The lightning slammed against his defenses, splintering biscuit fragments into the air.
For the ships further away, however, he could do nothing.
They burned.
They sank.
The sea became littered with debris and floating corpses.
“In a single move…”
Cracker stared at the devastation, disbelief washing over him.
“How can he be this strong?”
He crushed the ship’s railing in frustration.
“Is this truly the power of a Marine Admiral?”
Despair crept into his voice.
Biscuit fragments scattered like falling snow.
He dropped to his knees.
“I cannot defeat him. I cannot win.”
In the distance, the Thunder Serpent warship continued forward without slowing, as though the entire confrontation had been nothing more than a minor inconvenience.
