The haughty man stood up, his noble brow so furrowed it was almost knotted, his handsome face filled with displeasure, “Didn’t I tell you to go to the Planning Department and tell them they could take the day off today? Why haven’t you gone? If you can’t handle this simple task, do you even want your job?”

The assistant, scolded to the point of bewilderment, explained with a stiff upper lip, “I’ve already notified the Planning Department.”

Baron Lawrence’s blazing fury seemed to be instantaneously frozen, as his sharp eagle-like eyes narrowed and fixed on him, as if trying to bore a hole through him, “You say you’ve already notified the Planning Department?”

“After your order, Lord, I immediately informed the Planning Department, and most of the people there have already left. They said something about a department dinner…”

“What did you say, say it again.”

The assistant was abruptly interrupted by Baron’s impending storm-like tone, a cold sweat breaking out on his back, he insisted, “After your order, I immediately…”

Baron Lawrence cut him off impatiently, “The next sentence!”

Baron Lawrence’s chest felt like it had been smashed by a powerful punch! His heart, filled with expectation, was suddenly dragged into the mire and crashed down heavily!

For some reason, he felt his mood plunge to rock bottom. His face turned ashen, and he punched the desk, startling the assistant, “Lord…”

Baron Lawrence seemed oblivious to the back of his hand that was bleeding; his handsome and pallid face was at the peak of foulness, and after his temples pulsated, he gnashed his teeth and spat out three words, “Get out!”

The assistant, worried about his hand and even more about his own safety from the fury, hesitated for a moment before reluctantly leaving, carefully closing the door to the President’s office behind him.

The moment the door shut, he heard a series of crashing noises inside the room.

A secretary who was on good terms with him tiptoed over and whispered, “What’s wrong with President Lawrence this morning? He seems to be in a really bad mood?”

The assistant rolled his eyes inwardly, wanting to know what was going on as well. However, he said aloud, “How would I know about the President’s matters? All I know is that the President is in a really bad mood today, so everybody had better be careful. Just focus on your work and don’t invite trouble.”

The others were all ears, hoping to catch some gossip, but instead, they heard a warning, and thought to themselves what might have happened. They resolved to keep an extremely low profile that day, careful not to become the stepping stones under someone’s else’s foot during a cannonade.
