- Chapter 568 568: 568: Reunion at Chocolate Café
“What a pity. You clearly wanted to leave Totto Land and explore the world.”
Nami sighed, slumping against the bar counter of the chocolate café. Disappointment lingered in her eyes as she muttered, “I wanted you to come with me when I returned to the crew. Imagine how much fun it would have been, sailing together with us.”
“I really envy you,” she added softly. “Being able to travel across the seas without restraint…”
Charlotte Pudding pouted and took a large bite of chocolate cake. As the sweetness melted on her tongue, her mood slowly brightened.
“Still, if Mama becomes the Pirate King, I will be able to travel freely too.”
“Don’t even think about it,” Nami replied with a dismissive wave. The gold ornaments on her body shimmered and dissolved into fine golden dust, rising into the air and forming vivid silhouettes from her memories. “With Luffy, Shirogai, Zoro, and Sanji, there is no way Charlotte Linlin will ever become Pirate King.”
The floating golden particles shaped familiar figures. A grinning captain with a straw hat, laughing foolishly. Beside him stood a calm, sharp eyed vice captain with a calculating smile. There was the directionally challenged swordsman obsessed with training, the curly browed cook with questionable manners, the long nosed coward, the adorable little reindeer, and Robin with her gentle, knowing smile.
Nami’s voice softened. “When will Shirogai and Luffy come get me? They said they would return after I trained here for a while…”
Her gaze turned wistful as she looked at the golden illusions.
“I miss you all so much.”
“Nami!!!”
Nami blinked.
“Huh? I must be imagining things…”
She rubbed her ears, her pout deepening. The voice had sounded so real. Almost identical to that hopelessly cheerful idiot captain.
“Hehehe, Nami!!!”
This time she froze. That laugh came from outside.
“Pudding… am I hearing things, or…”
Bang!
A thunderous crash shook the café from above. The chocolate ceiling split apart.
“Hehehe…”
A grinning head broke through the roof, chewing on chunks of chocolate as if it were nothing. His face was smeared with cocoa as he beamed down at her.
“Nami! We came to get you!”
Nami’s lips parted. “Lu… Luffy? Am I dreaming?”
With a final crunch, the chocolate roof gave way. Luffy dropped inside and landed hard on his backside before springing up like nothing happened. His arms stretched forward, wrapping around Nami in a tight embrace.
“Nami, long time no see! I missed you so much!”
“Wuwuwu! Luffy! I missed you too!”
For a brief moment, warmth flooded her chest. The joy of reunion overwhelmed her.
“Gently… gently…”
Her expression changed instantly.
“Idiot! Are you trying to strangle me the moment we reunite?!”
Her fist came crashing down.
Dang!
A massive bump swelled on Luffy’s head as he collapsed to the floor, eyes spinning.
“Sorry…”
“Hmph. You are still the same reckless idiot.”
Nami grabbed his hand and shook him lightly, excitement sparkling in her eyes.
“Luffy, did everyone come to pick me up?”
A man’s calm laughter sounded from outside.
“Sorry, Nami. It is just the two of us.”
The chocolate door chimed softly as it opened. A tall, white haired man stepped inside.
Nami’s joyful expression stiffened. She had never seen this face before.
“Who are you? How do you know my name?”
Pudding blinked in confusion. “You are not Shirogai, what a disappointment…”
“Idiot,” Luffy groaned from the floor, lifting his head. “That is Shirogai. This is his clone. He is Admiral Silver Serpent now. Pretty amazing, right? Hehehe, ow…”
Thud.
Nami’s fist buried him back into the ground.
Without hesitation, she rushed forward and threw herself into Shirogai’s arms. Tears streamed down her face.
“Shirogai… you and Luffy took so long. I thought you abandoned me.”
Shirogai felt the tremble in her body and gently rested a hand on her back. His expression remained composed, but his voice softened.
“Abandon you? Even if we abandoned that idiot captain, we would never abandon our navigator.”
He glanced briefly at Luffy.
“Without a captain, a crew can still sail. Without you, we cannot take a single step.”
“Hey! We still need a captain!” Luffy protested weakly from the floor.
Nami sniffed and looked up at Shirogai, a faint blush dusting her cheeks.
“You always know what to say.”
Her mood shifted quickly, her usual sharpness returning.
Smack.
She struck his back with force.
“We agreed I would stay with Big Mom for a short time to strengthen my abilities. It has been more than a year! If you were any later, she would have groomed me as her successor!”
Shirogai staggered back dramatically and coughed as if injured.
“As expected of the successor to the Emperors Big Mom. That strike nearly shattered my organs.”
“Oh please.” Nami folded her arms. “You, who are hailed across the seas as a God level existence, second only to the Pirate King and above the Four Emperors, cannot endure a few hits from me?”
She struck him again, knocking him to the floor.
“Ah. I am finished,” Shirogai declared calmly from the ground. “Luffy… avenge me.”
“Shirogai!” Luffy crawled over with exaggerated tears streaming down his face, clutching his hand. “I will defeat Empress Nami for you!”
Thud.
Another punch landed.
Luffy joined Shirogai on the floor, tongue out, eyes crossed.
“I cannot continue either… she is too strong…”
Pudding burst into laughter at the absurd scene unfolding before her.
Nami placed her hands on her hips, pretending to glare at the two fallen men, though a smile betrayed her.
“You two have not changed at all.”
She looked at them quietly, warmth filling her chest once more.
Even after all this time, nothing between them had changed.
That alone made everything worth it.
