Chapter 279: Fighting Xu Feng!

“Very well then. Li Yun, you still have one last chance. Kneel now and beg for mercy. If you do, I may spare you. Otherwise, I, Xu Feng of Boundless Martial Palace, will personally smash your mouth to pieces for daring to speak such nonsense about our sect.”

Xu Feng looked at Li Yun with open hostility.

He found Li Yun deeply unpleasant from the very beginning. Since Xin Lu could not move because of Qin Ling’s presence and the rules of the Tea Ceremony, Xu Feng intended to act in his place. He wanted to see whether Li Yun could remain arrogant after being beaten into humiliation.

“Are you certain you want to stand up for Xin Lu?” Li Yun asked as he narrowed his eyes. Cold streaks of light flickered within them.

“Xin Lu is a member of the Hidden Dragon Ranking. I am not qualified to stand up for him.” Xu Feng said as he slowly drew a silver-black long saber. The blade gleamed with a sharp and sinister light as he pointed it directly at Li Yun. “But as for you, I am more than qualified to teach you a lesson.”

Inside the pavilion, Xin Lu’s gaze deepened as he spoke clearly, one word at a time.

“Xu Feng, no matter how this battle ends, I, Xin Lu, owe you a favor.”

Xu Feng’s eyes brightened slightly. He smiled and cupped his fist. “Brother Xin, you are too generous. We are from the same sect and since Li Yun is talking trash against our Boundless Martial Palace, I must teach him a lesson.”

To obtain a favor from a genius listed on the Hidden Dragon Ranking was an opportunity many would struggle to gain. For Xu Feng, it was the best possible outcome.

The others nearby immediately felt regret rise in their hearts. Xu Feng had moved too quickly. If they had known that helping Xin Lu would earn such an easy favor, many of them would have rushed onto the stage first.

“Xu Feng is ranked among the top five true disciples of Boundless Martial Palace.” Huo Ming said to Han Li and Han Xue as he watched the arena. “His strength is far above Hu Ming’s, at the 2nd level of Essence Qi Realm. If Li Yun’s strength is only around that level, then he will definitely lose.”

Han Li did not hesitate. His tone was firm and certain.

“Xu Feng is not his match.”

If the opponent had been Xin Lu, he might have felt uncertain. But this was only Xu Feng. Han Li firmly believed Li Yun would win.

Han Xue nodded and added, “My brother and I both believe Li Yun will be the victor.”

Huo Ming looked at them in disbelief. “I think the two of you have fallen completely under Li Yun’s spell.”

He truly could not understand what Li Yun had done to earn such unwavering support. No matter the situation, the siblings continued to stand on his side.

Han Li replied seriously, “Senior Brother Huo, you have not spent time with him, so you do not understand how astonishing his potential truly is. That is understandable. But you should not make arbitrary judgments because of it.”

“Fine.” Huo Ming exhaled slowly, trying his best to suppress the irritation rising within him. “Then I will watch carefully and see what kind of surprise he can bring.”

His eyes remained fixed on the martial stage.

There, Li Yun and Xu Feng stood facing one another from ten meters apart, the tension between them already sharp enough to cut the air.

“I hope you do not come to regret this.”

Li Yun’s voice was calm, yet the confidence within it carried a sharpness that made many nearby disciples narrow their eyes.

Across from him, Xu Feng’s face darkened for a moment before twisting into a cold smile.

“Regret?” he said as he slowly raised his saber and pointed it straight at Li Yun. “Those two words have never existed in my life.”

The instant he finished speaking, a powerful aura erupted from his body.

Lightning essence qi surged wildly through his meridians like a rushing current, while thirty percent Lightning Intent spread outward like an invisible storm.

The saber in his hand began to hum sharply as arcs of blue-white electricity danced across the blade. In that moment, the weapon looked far more dangerous than before.

The air around Xu Feng crackled without pause. He was not merely using lightning-attributed qi. He had comprehended true Lightning Intent.

Many disciples in the surrounding pavilions revealed startled expressions.

“Thirty percent Lightning Intent.”

“As expected of Xu Feng. No wonder he dared to step forward.”

“With both lightning qi and Lightning Intent supporting him, his attack speed must be terrifying.”

Xu Feng stepped forward once.

Then he vanished.

Only a streak of saber light remained where he had stood.

The speed was astonishing. Lightning was already famous for explosive force and unmatched swiftness. Now, with Lightning Intent layered upon it, Xu Feng’s movement became even more violent and rapid, like an actual bolt of thunder tearing across the battlefield.

His saber descended toward Li Yun’s neck with lethal precision.

Yet Li Yun did not panic.

He had no intention of drawing his sword.

He would answer blade with fist.

The Ninefold Origin Flesh Scripture roared to life within him as the full power of fourth-stage Titan Flesh awakened. Every bone, tendon, muscle, and organ in his body was flooded with monstrous strength.

A heavy pressure spread from him, as though an ancient giant had taken human form.

At the same time, the Overlord Thunder Scripture at the thirteenth layer surged through his meridians like rivers of storm energy. Using the Heavenly Lightning Codex, forty percent Lightning Intent burst outward, wrapping both fists in dense silver-blue lightning.

The air around his hands trembled.

His body possessed overwhelming brute force.

His fists possessed lightning speed.

His attacks carried devastating destructive power.

Just before Xu Feng’s saber reached him, Li Yun moved.

Forty percent Lightning Intent exploded beneath his feet. His figure blurred sideways, leaving behind a crackling afterimage as the saber sliced through empty air.

Xu Feng’s eyes narrowed sharply.

Too fast.

Before he could redirect the strike, Li Yun had already appeared beside him.

His right fist drew back. Lightning spiraled around it in tightening arcs. The force of Titan Flesh poured into the blow.

Boom!

Li Yun’s fist smashed directly into the flat of Xu Feng’s saber.

The impact was horrifying.

The blade bent violently, while a savage current of force traveled through the weapon and into Xu Feng’s arms. Li Yun’s lightning collided with Xu Feng’s own Lightning Intent, causing an explosion of sparks between them.

Xu Feng was blasted backward several meters. His boots carved deep trenches into the stone before he forced himself to stop.

His palms had gone numb. His bones ached.

Shock flashed through his eyes. “How can bare fists contain such force?”

Li Yun did not answer.

Lightning flickered around his body as he stepped forward again.
