Chapter 280: Defeating Xu Feng!

Xu Feng’s face twisted savagely.

“Then receive this!”

He raised his saber high as Lightning Intent surged to its peak. At the same time his mid grade profound rank cultivation art surged at the 7th layer.

“Nine Raging Thunder Strikes!”

The saber split into layers of blade shadows as nine lightning slashes erupted outward. Each contained thirty percent Lightning Intent and was driven by explosive essence qi. They came from different angles at terrifying speed, sealing every route of escape.

The arena brightened beneath the barrage.

Every strike roared like thunder.

Many disciples watching felt their scalps go numb. Even some stronger cultivators frowned at the pressure.

Li Yun, however, charged directly into the storm.

His left fist struck first.

Bang!

The first saber arc shattered instantly.

His right elbow smashed sideways.

Boom!

The second strike exploded into sparks.

The third and fourth attacks descended together. Li Yun stomped so hard that cracks spread through the platform, then drove both fists upward.

Two violent detonations rang out as both saber arcs were crushed apart.

The remaining strikes rushed in from every side.

Li Yun became a blur of lightning and raw force. His fists tore through one slash after another. Each collision released another burst of thunder.

Bang. Boom. Crack. Boom.

Nine strikes.

Nine destructions.

When the final saber arc shattered, the entire battlefield fell silent.

Xu Feng’s strongest technique had been broken head-on by Li Yun’s bare fists alone.

Worse still, Li Yun had used the same attribute.

Lightning had been defeated by stronger lightning.

Xu Feng’s breathing grew heavy. Sweat mixed with blood on his palms. His eyes were now filled with disbelief.

Li Yun slowly walked toward him, arcs of electricity still dancing across his fists.

“You understand Lightning Intent,” Li Yun said calmly. “But you rely on your weapon too much.”

Each step he took caused the ground beneath him to crack slightly beneath the pressure of Titan Flesh.

Xu Feng roared in fury and charged again.

This time he unleashed a storm of saber attacks, striking dozens of times in rapid succession. Blade light flashed wildly, every strike enhanced by Lightning Intent, each carrying enough force to split stone and sever steel.

Li Yun stepped directly into the storm.

Sometimes he moved aside by a hair’s breadth through sheer speed.

Sometimes he blocked the strikes with forearms strengthened by Titan Flesh.

Sometimes he simply punched through the incoming saber light and forced Xu Feng backward.

As he did this, sparks burst continuously and thunder roared again and again.

With every exchange, the difference between them became clearer.

Xu Feng was attacking desperately and Li Yun was playing with him.

Then Li Yun suddenly vanished.

Xu Feng’s instincts screamed in warning. He turned around sharply but he was a bit too late.

Li Yun had already appeared directly in front of him.

Both fists were drawn back. Forty percent Lightning Intent surged violently. The Overlord Thunder Scripture roared through every meridian. Fourth-stage Titan Flesh released all of its stored power. Lightning coiled around both fists like twin dragons.

Boom!

Both fists struck Xu Feng’s chest at the same time.

A massive shockwave burst outward, sending dust across the arena in a wide ring. Xu Feng’s chest armor shattered instantly. Several ribs cracked audibly. Blood exploded from his mouth.

His own Lightning Intent collapsed beneath the overwhelming force as his body flew backward like a broken doll before crashing into the arena floor.

The stone platform caved inward from the impact.

Silence spread across the battlefield.

Xu Feng lay in the crater, twitching weakly, blood covering his body. Disbelief and humiliation filled his eyes.

Li Yun stood at the center of the arena as the lightning slowly faded from his fists, looking as though the battle had required almost no effort at all.

The spectators were stunned.

What exactly had just happened?

Even Xu Feng had been defeated.

Only moments ago, he had stepped onto the stage overflowing with confidence, certain that he would crush Li Yun and restore the dignity of Boundless Martial Palace. Yet now he lay broken on the arena floor, defeated quickly and in humiliating fashion.

What confused everyone even more was the final exchange. Xu Feng’s second sequence of attacks had clearly been fierce and imposing, filled with lightning power and relentless momentum. So why was he the one left gravely injured in the end?

For a brief moment, the summit of Heaven Dew Peak fell into complete silence.

No one spoke.

No one moved.

Many could only stare at the arena, struggling to accept what they had just witnessed.

Huo Ming felt as though something had lodged in his throat. He opened his mouth more than once, yet no words came out for a long time.

“Senior Brother Huo, I told you already. Xu Feng could never have been Li Yun’s match.” Han Xue blurted out, unable to hide the excitement in her voice.

Huo Ming’s expression turned extremely grim, and frustration churned within him.

In truth, he held no real hatred toward Li Yun. At the beginning, they had even been on decent terms. What he could not tolerate was Li Yun’s arrogance and boastful manner. In Huo Ming’s eyes, someone who constantly provoked others would only bring endless trouble to those around him. He had warned Han Li and Han Xue out of what he believed were sincere good intentions.

Yet because the siblings defended Li Yun at every turn, Huo Ming had gradually formed a deeply negative impression of him.

He had hoped Xu Feng’s victory would force Han Li and Han Xue to recognize reality and understand the danger of standing beside Li Yun.

Who could have expected the outcome to become this?

This was the exact opposite of what he wanted.

Huo Ming parted his lips again, but still could not say a single word.

At this point, actions had spoken louder than anything he could argue. Perhaps only Xin Lu himself stepping onto the stage could suppress Li Yun’s arrogance now. Anything Huo Ming said would merely make him look foolish.

Across from him, Xin Lu’s expression was even uglier than Huo Ming’s.

This Li Yun had truly infuriated him.

The most maddening part was that Li Yun clearly possessed enormous strength, yet because of the rules of the Tea Ceremony and Qin Ling’s intervention, Xin Lu had been unable to personally deal with him. He could only watch as Li Yun continued acting arrogantly before everyone.

“What a waste.”

Inwardly, Xin Lu blamed Xu Feng completely.

If Xu Feng was not Li Yun’s match, then why had he rushed forward so eagerly? Not only had he lost face, he had also caused Xin Lu to owe him a favor for nothing.
